Christmas Time

Dax made a gingerbread house at Jessica's bday party. He wanted to hurry and finish to go play with Lallace.
So, I ask Dax what he would like for Mama Carol and Papa to buy him for Christmas and he tells me skiis. I tell him we don't live where we get that type of snow. We would have to get on an airplane and fly. He says "well, let's go then" So funny! He decided a hula hoop would be fun. HA!
Brooks is crawling all over the house. He gives me the sign language for "more" when he wants more to eat. I guess he's been doing that for about a week now. He just sits and laughs and moves his hands back and forth. I think he stays hungry. He ate yogurt, carrots, and grapes last night for dinner. He still woke up at 4 am screaming needing a snack and/or wanted mommy love. Which I happily give once I can pull myself out of bed. This teethy business is tough.

We had Dax's 4 year old Prek Christmas concert and they sang jingle bells, up on the roof top, and feliz da v dod. (how dax says it) He was very into the music. He told me he wanted to do the cake walk until he won a cake. Well, thank goodness he won the first try. I can't believe it. I never won at the cake walk when I was a child.

Thanksgiving Break

So, we went to the Tellus Museum. It was really great. Dax really loved panning for gems and digging for dinosaur fossils. Afterwards, we met the family at Wallace BBQ for linner and had cupcakes for Dax's bday.
Sunday we got up and went to Seaside. The weather was perfect. Dax and Brooks were good boys. Brooks seemed to have enjoyed the sand. Dax did too. Dax now has a new nickname "sandman". We saw him licking his fingers several times, and we would yell at him to stop. I obviously couldn't watch him the whole time at the beach but he consumed a lot. That night, he was up throwing up sand. He said he wouldn't eat sand again. GREAT. I had to get barfed on and changed the sheets on the bed several times. I did get a little concerned, but he finally settled down after 2 AM.
Brooks at some point got his third tooth and on Nov 22 he was able to get from laying down to a seated position. Then on Sunday he began taking 4 step crawls. He looked like an elephant. Any day now we should have a crawler on our hands. The word easy will now be erased from my brain for a while. I'm going to be chasing him like crazy. He really loves his walker too. He comes into the kitchen and tries to get into all the cabinets. He really likes the lazy susan. He gets very upset if I push him away. Nov 28, he started saying DADADADA. This makes Brian happy. When we woke up this morning, Nov 29, Brooks says "hey, dada". So sweet.

Dax told me today that he wished he could go back to he's old preK class. I asked why of course and he says" because we didn't take long naps, like we do in this class."
Thanksgiving was great. We went to mimi and pops and spent the night. The Kilby's came for linner this year. We had so much food and the company was great. We took our yearly family pictures. I hope to post a few soon.

Dax's 5th Birthday

I can't believe Dax is turning five years old. I have had the worse case of nostalgia this year. I'm not sure why. I'm looking at the clock thinking back what was happening at that time five years ago. I guess most mom's do this. It really makes me happy and sad at the same time. Another thing I thought was odd - Dax was born at 12:16 AM on Nov 17th. I woke up in the middle of the night and looked at the clock at exactly 12:16 AM. I just smiled, but quickly went to the crying rescue of Brooks, who is having an extremely hard time of teething. I don't remember teething being a big deal for Dax.
We aren't having Dax a birhtday party this year, instead, we are going to the Tellus Museum, family gathering at Wallace BBQ, and heading to the beach for a few days.
We woke up this morning at 6AM and Dax immediately wanted to open his gifts. We had decorated his door with streamers and had balloons all around. He was so excited. He told me thank you five times. He asked for a crossbow, army gun set, legos, and some game. Dax said "he becided" he wants to go to McDonald's tonight for dinner. HA!
I will post pictures soon.

One the way to school

We are on the way to school. Dax is wearing his hat for Red Ribbon Week.

hanging out at the house

Today we carved our pumpkin. The pumpkin has two faces. Dax didn't like the first one I did, so we did another face on the other side. The pumpkin isn't that big to begin with. It looks rather silly but it made Dax happy. Brooks loved being outside watching and drinking water from his sippy cup. I roasted the pumpkin seeds and Dax loved them. He wanted some in his lunch today.

We took a few photos before the boys went to bed. They were both tired.

Pumpkins

It's the weekend before Halloween and we decided to stop by a pumpkin patch to get a big pumpkin. We all look really beautiful. Let's just saw we weren't very motivated to get fixed up.
Brooks is trying to pull up in his bed and acting like he's getting ready to crawl. He turned 7 months this past week.

Dax is ready for his birthday. He can't tell us what he wants because he wants everything. Driving me crazy.

Tooth and Sad

Monday morning we woke up, and I was feeding Brooks his morning oatmeal and he opened his little fish mouth and there it was, a little white tooth peaking out of the gums. Then two days later he had another next to it. He keeps smiling showing off his little new teeth. I haven't been able to get a photo because he closes his mouth everytime I take the picture. I will keep trying.
So, I'm leaving tomorrow to go to NYC with my girlfriends. I haven't left for a weekend for a while and Dax is really sad. He keeps asking why I need to go. HAHA! He will understand one day. He requested a toy gun to be brought back from my trip. I don't think a pretend gun would be to good to bring through the airport. I hope I can find something he really loves.

Updates

Brooks had his first ear infection which was a doozie because it was in both ears. I was sick, so caring for him was extremely hard. It's funny to me; he was in so much pain but still manged to smile. I have never seen a baby smile so much. I took him to the doctor and the whole time Dr. Carter was listening to his heart looking into his ears he would sit and smile.
Dax is doing really well. We started a toy incentive with behavior for home and school. If he is good all month he gets a special prize. Today is the end of the month and he's going crazy to know what the special prize is going to be. Hopefully, the toy bazooka will not disappoint.
He has been a little angel. This trick seems to be working well.....for now.

Fox and Piedmont Park

For my birthday we went to the Fox to see a movie and then over to Piedmont Park for Dax to play at the playground.

Few pics of Brooks with the family

Epic at Foxall

We went to the Epic Game Fair at Foxall this past weekend. Brooks stayed with Mimi and Pop. Thank goodness it was no place for babies. We had a great time. I think the canine area was Dax's favorite. He was trying to get us to bring home a new dog.

One more pic of Brooks- don't mind the ugly bib.

It's been awhile

Well, a lot has happend since I posted last. We have a new addition to our family and he's already 6 months old. Boy, I'm I behind. He's name is Brooks. He was born on March 20th. Such a great completion to our family. I can't say I've ever been happier. We are enjoying every moment with Dax and Brooks. They bring so much joy and humor to the family. What do single people do??? Kids make life hysterical. I have to admit there are stressful times, like your first night home with a newborn. AHHH! Worst night ever-especially after have a csection and sick as a dog.

But those days are short and then good ones make me realize what life is all about. Dax is now in 4 year pre K. Brooks goes with nanny. Brian drives across GA to go to work. He seems pretty content....for now. Hopefully, we will be able to stay where we are. Things are feeling right!
